Ownership of Images

CineFrame does not own, license, or claim ownership of any film stills, frames, or audiovisual works displayed on this site. All images remain the exclusive property of their respective copyright holders — including the studios, distributors, production companies, filmmakers, and cinematographers who created them. Where known, we credit the project, director, and year alongside every frame.

Editorial Purpose and Fair Use

CineFrame is a non-commercial editorial reference archive intended for the purposes of criticism, commentary, scholarship, research, and study of the art and craft of cinematography. Frames are displayed in low resolution and small size, accompanied by contextual metadata that supports educational and analytical engagement with the work.

We believe this use is consistent with the doctrine of fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107 and analogous fair-dealing principles in other jurisdictions. Our use is transformative, non-commercial, limited in extent, and unlikely to substitute for the original works.

Source Attribution

Frames on CineFrame are referenced from publicly available archives of film stills (such as Film-Grab and similar editorial sites) as well as direct submissions from the community. Each frame is presented with attribution to the original project and, where available, its director and year of release.

DMCA Takedown Procedure

If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of one) and you believe that content on CineFrame infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). Upon receipt of a valid notice, we will act promptly — typically within five (5) business days — to remove or disable access to the material in question.

Your written notice must include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (e.g. film title, year, distributor);
  3. Identification of the specific material claimed to be infringing, including the URL(s) of each frame on CineFrame;
  4. Your contact information (name, mailing address, telephone number, and email);
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Please be aware that under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages.

Counter-Notice

If you believe that material you posted was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to dmca@cineframe.app containing:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature;
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which it appeared before removal;
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification;
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the U.S., for any judicial district in which CineFrame may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notification.

Repeat Infringer Policy

CineFrame will, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers.

Requesting Removal Without a Formal DMCA Notice

If you are a rights holder and would prefer to request removal informally — without submitting a formal DMCA notice — you are welcome to email dmca@cineframe.app with the URL(s) and a brief description. We treat these requests with the same seriousness and respond promptly.
